One night after the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons found themselves on the short end of the score against McLean County in their season-opener, the Lady Maroons elected to return the favor towards the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers, who were opening their final season of basketball Friday night on Don Parsons Court.
The Lady Maroons scored the first 8 points of the game and never looked back on their way to a 69-38 win over the Lady Tigers. Unless the two teams play each other in the 2nd Region tournament, it is the final meeting between the two teams due to the upcoming consolidation of Hopkinsville and Christian County. If it turns out to be the final meeting, the series ends with Madisonville winning the final 10 games of the series.
Turnovers plagued the Lady Tigers from the very start of this one as the Lady Maroons took a 15-7 lead after the first quarter. Hopkinsville had no answers down in the lane for Macy Wright early on, as she scored 9 points in the first 8 minutes. The Madisonville defense also allowed Hopkinsville just three field goals in the quarter.

Leadin 21-11 in the second, the Lady Maroons delivered a 7-0 run that extended the lead out to 28-12 at the break. The outside shooting of Taylor Nelson was the story of the second as she knocked down three from behind the arc in the quarter.
Turnovers were vastly hindering the Hopkinsville offfense in the opening half as the Lady Tigers gave the ball away 21 times in the first 16 minutes.
Getting a spark from Dominique Allensworth, the Lady Tigers made a brief charge to try and get back in the game as the second half got underway. Hopkinsville closed to within 34-23 midway through the third but a 9-0 run from Madisonville pushed the lead back out to 43-23 and essentially settled the matter.
The quarter ended with the Lady Maroons holding a 47-29 lead.

A 10-0 run early in the final quarter officially slammed the door.
Taylor Nelson hit 5 threes and finished with 20 points to lead the Lady Maroons. Macy Wright had her second big night in a row with 16 points and 22 rebounds. Lilly Gobin also had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Hopkinsville was led by Serenity Ewing with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Kaveyah White added 9 points and 7 rebounds while Dominique Allensworth ended up with 8 points.
Madisonville (1-1) is back in action Monday night on the road at Christian County.
Hopkinsville (0-1) gets right back to it Saturday afternoon, hosting Webster County.
