Falcons Cruise Past Visiting Rockets for First Win

Tyreek Anthony and Garrett Vanatta combined for 44 points to lead the Fort Campbell boys’ basketball team to an 89-54 victory over Crittenden County on Friday, and hand coach Austin Byrum his first win on the sidelines for the Falcons.

The Falcons raced out to a 26-9 first-quarter advantage behind eight points from Anthony and six from Vanatta. Fort Campbell was 6 of 9 from the floor and knocked down a pair of three-pointers to take an early edge.

Vanatta added five points in the second quarter, and the Falcons continued to stretch the lead to 42-19 at the halftime break.

The teams played to a stalemate in the third quarter, with Anthony scoring eight points and Kingston Morton adding five for the Falcons.

Tyler Tow caught fire for Fort Campbell in the final frame with 10 points to finish with 12, and Vanatta added six to total 21. Anthony led all scorers with 23, and Kyre Ferguson finished with 14 for the Falcons.

Brady Dayberry was the lone Rocket in double figures with 15.

Crittenden County slipped to 0-2 ahead of a trip to Hickman County on Saturday.

Fort Campbell will hit the road on Tuesday to square off with Trigg County.
