A state tournament of any kind is a difficult way to open a season. Such was the task facing the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors Friday night.

HCA opened the 2025-2026 season with an appearance in the KCAC state tournament. The Lady Warriors first-round opponent was Portland Christian.

The Lady Eagles got a big night from Evelyn Rodriguez and rolled to a 61-16 win over the Lady Warriors. Rodriguez was 15 of 21 on the field as Portland Christian rolled to the big win. It was the second time in as many games that the Lady Eagles held an opponent to under 25 points as they improved to 2-0 on the season.

HCA is set to play New Covenant Christian Monday evening in Hopkinsville.
