Officials with the consolidated Christian County High School did not have to go very far down the road to find the school’s first cross country coach. During a media conference Monday morning, it was announced that Roger Volk had been named to lead the program as it prepares for its first season next fall.

Volk comes to the program after serving as Hopkinsville’s head coach from 2023 through 2025.

He is a 1977 graduate of Christian County High School and was the first Colonel runner to earn a medal at the state cross country meet. Volk won four individual regional titles in cross country and track, and was inducted into the Christian County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Heritage Christian County Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.

Volk earned an Associate in Fine Arts from the University of Kentucky in 1979 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrated Studies with a focus in Organizational Communication from Murray State University in 2012.
