The Heritage Christian Lady Warriors basketball team went into their matchup with New Covenant Christian Academy looking for their first win of the season. Unfortunately they were not able to do that just yet, as New Covenant was able to get the victory 44-19.
The Lady Warriors were never really able to get their offense going, as the most points they scored in a quarter was in the second, where they scored six. New Covenant scored more than that in every quarter, with two of them being double-digit quarters.
Heritage Christian found themselves down 29-9 at the halftime break, and not much improved in the second half. As a result, they ended up losing 44-19, and are now still searching for their first win of the season.
But that does not mean that the team did not have any bright spots in the loss.
Freshman Ava DeJager was able to score 10 points in the game, but that wasn’t exactly what was impressive about her performance. She was able to get it done on the boards, grabbing 16 rebounds over the course of the game.
The team was also able to get it done at times on the defensive end, as Sophie Arvin and Kynlee Henderson each finished with five steals apiece.
The Lady Warriors will stay in search of their first win in their next game against Community Christian at home on Tuesday, December 16. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m.
