The Hopkins County Central Storm basketball team lost their first game of the season at home against Hopkinsville, so their home game against Crittenden was another good chance to get their first win. They were able to do exactly that, and they did so with a convincing score of 87-43.

A big part of the win was the Storm’s absolutely massive first quarter scoring the ball. They were able to score 34 points compared to the Rockets’ 19, and the main reason they were able to do that was the play from Blaze Sumner, who had 11 in the quarter.

The second quarter was more of the same and saw the Storm scoring 27 points, but this time Crittenden scored just five. This led Hopkins Central to an absolutely massive 61-24 lead at the halftime break.

The third period was the only one where the Rockets were able to outscore the Storm, as they did so 17-16. But it was far too little and far too late, as the latter was able to close it out in the fourth quarter and get the win 87-43.

The Storm had four players scoring in double-digits, with Davonyae Butcher leading all scorers with 18. Sumner also put up 16, Samari Pettus had 13, and Peyton Smith had 12.

Hopkins Central will be looking to start a win streak in the early part of the season in their next game on Tuesday, December 9, against Dawson Springs on the road. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
