Both Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell went into their Wednesday evening matchup with each other having just come off of a win in their previous games. But it was the Tigers who were able to keep their win streak alive with a commanding 92-36 win on the road.

This is the 41st win in a row that Hopkinsville has been able to get over Fort Campbell, as the Falcons have not got the best of them since the 2006 8th District Tournament.

The Tigers were able to get off to a hot start and take a 15-4 lead just a few minutes into the first quarter. The Tigers were getting consistent stops, and a big factor in that was Layton Giltner being able to get up and block quite a few shots in just the first period.

By the end of the quarter, their lead had grown substantially, and Hopkinsville was able to go into the second up 34-10.

The next quarter started the same as the previous one ended, with the Tigers getting some stops and extending their lead to 46-11. This caused the Falcons to take a fairly early timeout, but things did not stop there.

The Hopkinsville offense kept exploding, and they were able to take a 62-18 lead into the halftime break.

They then started the third quarter on a 10-2 run, and they were able to continue getting into the paint at will. This caused the lead to grow to 50 points by the end of the third, and let Hopkinsville sit back and coast in the fourth.

Fort Campbell’s Corey Baker was able to hit a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter, but it was obviously too little too late, and the Tigers were able to get the 92-36 win.

One of the big factors in the win for Hopkinsville was the fact that they were able to outrebound Fort Campbell 30 to 13. They also shot 42-69, which comes out to a scorching 60.8 percent from the field.

The Tigers’ leading scorer in the game was TaShaun Quarles with 18, while Jayven Battle, Jayon Bass, and Giltner also all had double-digits in points.

As for the Falcons, Garrett Vannatta led the way with 10 points, and a lot of his work came at the free throw line. Tyreek Anthony and Baker also had nine and eight points, respectively.

Fort Campbell will be looking to bounce back and get their third win of the season in their next game against the Rebels of Todd County Central on Friday, December 12. Their game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Fort Campbell High School.

Hopkinsville will hope to continue their win streak on Saturday, December 13, also against the Rebels. That will be the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic, and is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Hopkinsville High School.
