After winning the first two games of their final season, the Christian County Lady Colonels lost their last game in the Toyota of Hopkinsville Holiday Classic. They looked to right the ship against McCracken County, but the Lady Mustangs were able to get the better of them 58-53.

Both teams started the first quarter turning the ball over a bit more than they would have liked. But a couple of empty Christian County possessions gave McCracken a 15-7 lead going into a timeout with just under three minutes to play in the first.

It proved to be a very effective timeout, as the Lady Colonels fought back a bit to make it 16-14 going into half as a result of some solid defense and passing on the offensive end.

But McCracken went right at them to start the second, getting out to a 7-0 run that Christian County was finally able to end with a layup from Carliah Hobson with just over four minutes left.

The Lady Mustangs were able to continuously get to the free throw line, and this helped them hold their lead at 28-20 going into the halftime break.

Anaysia Bagwell was able tp put in back-to-back threes in the third quarter, but McCracken answered her back both times to keep their lead. The Lady Mustangs were also able to get out and run to get some buckets, and that helped them keep and extend their lead to 45-33 at the end of the third.

McCracken was able to open the fourth quarter with another three, but so was Bagwell, who responded right back. There were a lot of fouls called over the course of the fourth quarter, which put the Lady Mustangs in the bonus still with over three minutes to play.

Through all of that, the Lady Colonels were able to cut the lead to just seven at a timeout with just about two minutes left on the clock. Both teams were able to continue to get the free throw line, but some big defensive plays and some scores from the Lady Colonels led to a McCracken timeout with the Lady Mustangs up just three with thirty seconds left.

Christian County was then forced to foul, and McCracken was able to make their free throws and close it out 58-53.

Bagwell led the way in scoring for the Lady Colonels with 19 points behind four three-pointers. Carliah Hobson was also able to get into the paint consistently and finish with 12 of her own.

They will be looking to snap their losing streak in their next game on Tuesday, December 16, against Bowling Green. That game is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. at Christian County High School.
