Caldwell County High School senior Adley Lewis will head east to join an emerging college softball program.

Lewis signed Monday night to play softball at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The signing ceremony was held in front of teammates, friends and family in the CCHS cafeteria.

Lewis was a key cog for the Lady Tigers last season as Caldwell won its first district title in 23 years and ended an 11-year championship reign by Madisonville-North Hopkins in the 7th District. The Lady Tigers also won a game in the 2nd Region tournament before falling in the semifinals.

Lewis hit .305 with 16 extra-base hits, including four home runs last spring. She drove in 25 runs while also flashing a strong glove at third base.

As a sophomore, Lewis hit .395 with the Lady Tigers, recording two homers and 25 runs batted in.

Lewis expects to play right away for the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, who are in the building process for their softball program. JWU Charlotte played its inaugural season on the softball diamond this past spring.

Johnson & Wales, Charlotte is an NCAA Div. III which joined the Coast To Coast Athletic Conference this year. The school’s athletic teams previously competed in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

The Wildcats will be immediately eligible to compete in all C2C championships and are on pace to become a full NCAA Div. III member for the 2028-29 academic year.

Lewis’ signing continues a string of recent college signings for the Lady Tigers.

The Caldwell softball program currently has four players on college softball rosters. Brylee Butts is at Memphis, A.J. Hollowell is at Kentucky Wesleyan, and both Alicia Stanley and Harper Holeman play at Frontier College.
