Lyon County erased a double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit on Tuesday at Crittenden County, but the Lady Lyons were turned back in a 53-51 overtime loss to give the Lady Rockets their fourth-straight victory in the series.

With the teams meeting for the first time since Crittenden County knocked off the Lady Lyons in last season’s 5th-District championship, the Lady Rockets jumped out to a 22-13 advantage behind eight first-quarter points from Jordyn Hodge and six each for Anna Boone and Andrea Federico.

However, Piper Cotham and Courtney Collins combined for nine in the second quarter to help Lyon County trim three points off the lead and go to the locker room trailing 31-25 at the break.

Boone connected on a trio of three-pointers in the third, and the Lady Rockets looked to be in control, up by 10 points with a quarter to play. But Crittenden went cold down the stretch, managing only 2 points in the final frame to open the door for a Lady Lyon rally.

After outscoring the Lady Rockets 12-2 to force overtime, Lyon County couldn’t seal the deal despite Cotham’s four points to finish with a game-high 20.

Collins joined Cotham in double figures with 10 for the Lady Lyons, and Trinity Taylor also finished with 10.

Boone led the Lady Rockets with 19, including six three-pointers, Hodge scored four points in overtime to finish with 17, and Federico added 10.

Lyon County slipped to 4-2, 1-1 in district play, ahead of a matchup with Russell County on Saturday at Lexington Catholic.

Crittenden moved to 5-2 and will travel to Carlisle County on Thursday.
