The Todd County Central Rebels basketball team went into their Tuesday evening matchup with Foundation Christian Academy having lost their last six games. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the Falcons had one their last four.
But at the end of the day, it was the Rebels who were able to snap their cold streak and get the win 69-53.
The Rebels immediately got off to a hot start in the first quarter, scoring 24 points compared to FCA’s 18. The biggest reason for Todd’s big quarter was the five three-pointers that they were able to hit in the first eight minutes.
The second was more of the same, with Todd Central outscoring the Falcons in another quarter, and doing so with more three-pointers. This led the Rebels to take a 41-31 lead into the halftime break.
Todd was only able to score nine points in the third quarter, but the lead had grown to the point where a slower quarter did not hurt them too bad.
Esecially since they were able to come right back out in the fourth and score 18 to put the Falcons away 69-53.
John Ross Cardwell and Connor Holder had 25 and 24 points, respectively, and they did so with a barrage of three-pointers.
As mentioned previously, Foundation Christian had won their last four games before matching up with Todd County. But not only had they won their last four, but they had done so in commanding fashion, with the smallest margin of victory being 20 points.
So not only was this win good for breaking the Rebels’ six-game losing streak, it was also a win over a competitive team.
This is the first time since 2022 that these two teams have faced off, and the sixth time ever. Not only has Todd Central been able to take all six, but they have also never beat the Falcons by anything less than 16.
The Rebels will be looking to take a win like this and use it to start a win streak. And that all begins in their next game on Thursday, December 18, against the Christian County Colonels. Their game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Todd County Central High School.
