The Hopkinsville Tigers basketball team went into their Tuesday evening matchup with Webster County looking to extend their win streak to four. They were unfortunately not able to do that, as the Trojans got the better of them 59-47.
The Tigers came out of the gates hot with a 21-point first quarter, and it was due in no small part to the three three-pointers they were able to hit. Those shots from beyond the arc led them to a 21-13 lead after one.
The second quarter did not go quite as well, as Hopkinsville was outscored 18-11 in the period. This caused them to lose all but one point of their lead and go into the halftime break up just 32-31.
But the second half is really where the Tigers lost the game, and it was because they were only able to score 15 points in the third and fourth quarters combined. Compared to the Trojans’ 28, this was more than enough for Webster to complete the comeback and get the 59-47 win.
The scoring leader in the game for the Tigers was 18 points, as he was the only player in double figures. But not only that, he also had 10 rebounds, causing him to finish with a double-double.
Hopkinsville will be looking to start a new win streak in their next game on Thursday, December 18, against Lyon County. Their game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Lyon County High School.
