Bagwell Reaches 2,000 as Lady Colonels Roll Past Todd Central

Coming off a heartbreaking loss earlier in the week to Bowling Green, the Christian County Lady Colonels were looking to get things back on track as they traveled to Elkton to take on a young Todd County Central team Thursday night. Christian County worked through a slow start and got a little history from senior Anaysia Bagwell as the Lady Colonels picked up a 78-34 road win over the Lady Rebels.

A bit of a bumpy start to the night for the Lady Colonels. Christian County coughed the ball up four times in the first four minutes of the game as Todd County Central, behind the play of Chloe Collins and Kathryn Ballard, ran out to a quick 6-1 lead. But then the foul bug began to bite the Lady Rebels, and it bit hard.

Christian County would go to the line 13 times over the final six minutes of the opening quarter as part of a 17-2 run, charging out to an 18-8 lead at the end of the quarter. After turnover issues early in the quarter, the Lady Colonels had just one more miscue over the final six minutes of the opening stanza.

The Lady Colonels kept rolling as the second quarter opened. Christian County scored the first seven points of the quarter to run the lead out to 25-8. Moments later, Anaysia Bagwell scored going down the lane to make it 31-14. The basket was noteworthy not for its place in the game, but rather for its place in the career of Bagwell. The basket gave her 1,999 and 2,000 points in her illustrious career at Christian County.

The Lady Colonels, who were controlling the boards over the first 16 minutes, continued to build the lead out to 38-16 by the end of the half. Christian County outrebounded Todd County Central 34-14 for the half.

The Christian County offense continued rolling as the second half got underway. The Lady Colonels pulled out to a 30-point lead as the quarter ended at 58-28.

Lady Colonel reserves saw much of the action in the final 8 minutes of the contest as Christian County pulled on away for the 44-point win.

Anaysia Bagwell ended the night with 16 points to lead Christian County. Carliah Hobson came off the bench and gave the Lady Colonels 11 points and 9 rebounds. Adreyona Smith had 9 points and 6 rebounds. NeZiyah Bell scored 8 points. Genesis McGee had just 6 points but pulled down a team high 12 rebounds as Christian County had 6 players finish with at least 5 boards.

Todd County Central was paced by Kathryn Ballard with 19 points. Chloe Collins also hit double figures with 10.

Christian County ends a three-game losing streak and improves to 3-3, The Lady Colonels are now off until after Christmas.
