Caldwell’s Girls Roll at Union County to Improve to 4-3

Caldwell County’s girls will celebrate Christmas off a big win over Union County on Friday.

The Lady Tigers ended a decade of frustration against the Bravettes by rolling to a 71-42 victory at Union.

Tink Clark had 23 points, five rebounds and five assists as Caldwell beat Union for the first time since January of 2015. The Bravettes had won nine in a row against the Lady Tigers since that time.

But Caldwell roared out of the gate to a 10-0 lead this time around and led wire-to-wire.

It was a 16-5 lead after one quarter. The Lady Tigers went to halftime with a 39-26 advantage.

Caldwell continued to add to its lead after the break.

The Lady Tigers took a 55-34 lead to the fourth quarter.

Caldwell led by as much as 33 points in the final frame.

Audrey McCoy added 18 points and six rebounds and Med Thomas had 15 points and six boards. Alaiyaa Shearer added eight points, six rebounds and six steals. Ke’Darriah Thompson had 11 rebounds and two points.

Union got 13 points from Bri Bell and 12 from Ellee Gentry.

Caldwell is now 4-3.

The Lady Tigers will play again on Friday, Dec. 26, when they take on the Springfield (Tennessee) Yellow Jackets in a first round game of the H&H Holiday Hoopfest at Logan County.
