A strong defensive performance from the Cooper Lady Jaguars, along with a second-half injury to a key player, was too much for the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm to work their way through Friday night at the Queen of The Commonwealth at Bullitt East High School. Cooper limited the Lady Storm to just three made field goals or fewer in every quarter as the Lady Jaguars took a 51-37 win.

Cooper used outside shooting to take a 15-11 lead after the opening quarter. The Lady Jaguars knocked down three shots from behind the arc in the first eight minutes.

The Lady Jaguars limited the Lady Storm to just 8 points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 26-19. Calajia Mason knocked down a pair of threes in the quarter, keeping Central within shouting distance.

The Lady Storm lost starter Tyah White to an injury early in the third quarter, taking one of their offensive weapons out of the game. Cooper was then able to extend the lead to 42-31 heading into the final eight minutes of the game.

The Hopkins Central defense limited Cooper to just two field goals in the final quarter but the Lady Storm were not able to make any progress chewing into the lead as the Lady Jaguars returned the favor on the other end.

Calajia Mason was the only player to reach double figures for Hopkins Central (4-2) with 15 points. Tyah White had 9 points when she left the game. Addie Menser finished the night with 7 points.

Cooper was led by Haylee Noel with 24 points. Lyric Hooper added 8 points.

Hopkins County Central will now take on North Bullitt Saturday evening at 6:30.
