Down double digits late in the game, the Fort Campbell Falcons made it a bit interesting in the final moments Friday night before falling to Christian Fellowship 72-65. Trailing by 12 points with just 90 seconds to go, the Falcons made a late charge and got as close as 5 points with 15 seconds to go but that would be as close as they could get as the Eagles held on for the win.
Christian Fellowship came out and took a 21-12 lead after the opening quarter. Behind the play of Elijah Grigg and Jake Burchett, the Eagles extended the lead to 41-29 at the half.
Fort Campbell was able to trim the lead to 54-44 heading into the final 8 minutes of the contest.
Christian Fellowship was able to hold on for the win in the fourth quarter, in part, by knocking down 8 of their 10 free throws, as the Eagles won for the third time in the last four games.
Tyreek Anthony was the Falcons’ leading scorer with 23 points, including five made 3-pointers. Kyre Ferguson also hit five threes and finished with 16 points. J.P. Perryman added 12 points for the Falcons.
CFS’s Elijah Griggs led all scorers in the game with 31 points. Samuel Grigg and Jake Burchett added 11 points each.
Fort Campbell (3-5) is right back at it Saturday when the Falcons take on Hickman County at Calloway County in The Hardwood Classic.
