Dawson Springs went into their matchup against University Heights looking to start a win streak, while the Blazers were hoping to bounce back from a loss in their last game. After a close battle, it was UHA who was able to come out on top and take the victory 51-50.

Both teams were neck-and-neck in the first quarter, even though it may not have been the highest scoring period ever. Ethan Slaton and Jaydon Plunkette scored all of Dawson’s nine points in the quarter, while KeShawn Moore and Nash McAfee scored nine of UHA’s 11 to help their team take an early lead.

The second quarter was more of the same, but this time it was the Panthers who were able to outscore the Blazers 15-14 and cut the lead to just one going into the halftime break. This was due in no small part to the seven points that Cooper Burge was able to score in the period.

University Heights was able to come back and outscore Dawson 12-10 in the third quarter, and this was helped by a pair of threes made by Moore and McAfee. This gave the Blazers a tight 37-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Panthers made a valiant effort in the final period, scoring 16 points behind six from Easton Bourland, but it was not quite enough. UHA was able to score 14 in the quarter, which was just barely what they needed to get the win by just one point.

Burge led the way in scoring for Dawson with 11, while Noah Riley, Slaton, and Plunkette all finished with 10. Bourland was also able to contribute nine points of his own.

As for the Blazers, Moore put up a very solid 22 points with a couple made three-pointers. McAfee also made a few shots from beyond the arc as well, helping him to 10 points on the game.

Dawson has faced UHA 14 times, but they have never been able to beat the Blazers. They will be hoping to get revenge on them the next time the two teams face off.

But for now, they will be focused on getting the win against Webster County on Friday, December 19. That game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Webster County High School.

University Heights will be hoping that they can start a win streak in their next one on Friday on the road against Union County. Their game will tip off at 6 p.m.
