Madisonville-North Hopkins used a strong finish to pick up win number one on the 2025-2026 season Friday night. The Maroons trailed going into the fourth quarter but rallied to take a 64-59 win over Boone County in the Best of The Twin Lakes Holiday Classic at Clinton County High School.
The Maroons trailed 44-41 entering the final quarter and still trailed by three midway through the fourth when Gavin Oldham was fouled on a made three-pointer. Oldham converted the four-point play to put the Maroons into the lead.
From there it was back-and-forth down to the wire with the Maroons making their free throws late to seal the win.
The Maroons opened the game taking a 19-14 lead after the first quarter. Boone County battled back in the second to tie the game at 31-31 going into the half.
The Rebels then moved to the front, taking a 44-41 lead heading into the final 8 minutes.

Lake Sumner had a big night for the Maroons finishing with 22 points and was named Player of the Game. Gavin Oldham added 14. Deacon Dever finished the night with 9 points.
Madisonville-North Hopkins (1-5) takes on host Clinton County Saturday at 5pm.
