After picking up their first win of the season Friday night, the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons were looking to make it two in a row as they took on host Clinton County Saturday evening in the Best of The Twin Lakes Holiday Classic. The Bulldogs have been one of the 4th Region’s hottest teams as of late and that did not change Saturday.

Clinton County held the Maroons to single digit scoring in each of the final three quarters as the Bulldogs ran away to a 74-34 win.

Thanks to a hot start from Lake Sumner, the Maroons were right there in the game after the first 8 minutes, trailing just 19-18. Then, the bottom fell out.

The Bulldogs held the Maroons to a single Lake Sumner field goal in the second quarter as they outscored Madisonville 20-2 and ran the lead out to 39–20 at the half.

Things did not get any better as the second half started. The Clinton County defense gave the Maroons just two field goals and 8 total points in the third as the lead swelled to 56-28 heading into the final quarter.

The Bulldogs finished out strong and took the 40-point win.

Madisonville got 15 points from Lake Sumner. Orion Underwood added 9 points. Gavin Oldham ended up with 6 points.

Clinton County’s Will Beatty led all scorers with 28 points. He was the only Bulldog in double figures. However, Clinton County had 10 different players get into the scoring column for the game.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (1-6) gets back on the court Sunday afternoon when the Maroons take on Atherton.
