Lady Maroons Split Games at Maroon Classic

A split for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons Saturday in the Maroon Classic. The Lady Maroons opened the day with a win over Bourbon County and then finished out with a loss to 1st Region contender Marshall County,

In the first game of the day, the Lady Maroons defense held Bourbon County to just 8 points in the first half as Madisonville took a double digit lead and went on to take a 40-30 win over the Lady Colonels.

Madisonville led 9-2 after the first quarter, allowing Bourbon County a single field goal over the first 8 minutes. The Lady Maroons then extended the lead to 18-8 at the break.

The two teams played even in the second half with the Lady Maroons leading 29-17 after three and then cruising on out to the final 10-point margin.

Macy Wright was Madisonville’s leading scorer with 14 points. Taylor Nelson also hit double figures with 10 and Sadie Kirk finished with 8.

Regan Ring led Bourbon County with 10 points.

The Lady Maroons’ second game of the day saw Marshall County get a smothering defensive effort in the middle two quarters on the way to a 51-34 win.

Behind the efforts of Kenzlee Terry, the Lady Marshals took an 18-11 lead after the opening quarter.

Marshall County’s defense allowed the Lady Maroons just two field goals and seven total points in the second, all coming from Macy Wright, as the lead grew to 27-18.

Coming out of the half, Marshall County put the game away by holding the Lady Maroons to only two free throws in the third as the Lady Marshals extended the margin out to 42-20.

Marshall County then played it out in the fourth quarter to take the 17-point victory.

Macy Wright was the leading scorer for the Lady Maroons with 15 points. JaMia Harris had 7 points and Sadie Kirk added 6.

Marshall County was led by Kenzlee Terry with 21 points. Addi Wall ended the game with 14 points.

Madisonville (4-4) goes on the road Monday night to take on Todd County Central.
