Undefeated Webster Too Much for Dawson Springs

Webster County ran its perfect record to 6-0 and won by double digits for the third-straight game with a 91-56 victory over visiting Dawson Springs on Friday.

The Trojans’ Caleb Bumpus led all scorers with 22, including 10 in the opening quarter, to help Webster to a 29-16 advantage. Dawson Springs’ Noah Riley and Easton Bourland combined for 12 to keep the Panthers in the game.

Riley stayed hot with eight points in the second for Dawson Springs, but Reid McDyer scored 10, and Bumpus added 7 to give Webster County a 52-33 lead at the halftime break.

Points were scarce for the Panthers in the third quarter, and Bobby Trace Hardison and Jace Shelton combined for nine to help the Trojans stretch the margin to 29 ahead of the final frame.

McDyer joined Bumpus in double figures for the Trojans with 16, followed by Shelton with 13, Aiden Alstadt with 11, and Hardison with 10.

Riley led the Panthers with 18, and Bourland reached double figures with 11.

Dawson Springs slipped to 1-6 ahead of a trip to face Trinity (Whitesville) on Saturday.
