Herran’s 4th Place Showing Leads Caldwell at Lady Hawks Invite

Caldwell County’s Keirli Herran captured a fourth-place medal to lead the Lady Tiger wrestlers in the Rossview Lady Hawks Invitational Saturday in Clarksville.

Herran went 4-2 on the day, winning three matches in the consolation bracket to get back to the thrd-place match after an early loss in the quarterfinal round.

All four of Herran’s wins came by pin before being pinned in the third-place match.

Wins were tough to come by in the 35-team tournament.

Payten Simmons went 1-2 at 165, winning her first match by pin before dropping her next two matches.

Virginia Stewart was 1-2 at 185. She dropped her first match before winning by pin in the consolation round. However, Stewart was decisioned 13-6 in the next round.

Caldwell placed 21st in the team standings.

Next up for the Caldwell girls is the Maher/Garstin Battle for Independence Saturday, Dec. 27, at Independence High School in Thompson Station, Tennessee.

Coming up Saturday, Jan. 3, the Lady Tigers will host the annual Richey Rumble at the CAB gym.
