The Atherton Ravens were apparently not enamored with losing their first game of the season this week at the Best of The Twin Lakes Holiday Classic. After losing to Clinton County in their opening game of the event, the Ravens rebounded with two big wins, the latest coming Sunday against the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons.
Atherton jumped out to a big early lead and never looked back on the way to a 79-50 win over the Maroons at Clinton County.
Atherton took a 21-10 lead after the opening quarter and then extended that lead to 44-27 at the half.
The Ravens then put the game away with a big third quarter running the lead out to 70-37. Atherton cruised on out from there to get to the final 29-point margin.
Deacon Dever had a big day for Madisonville, finishing with 23 points. Gavin Oldham added 9 points while Orion Underwood scored 7.
Atherton was led by Jeff Johnson with 26 points. Josiah House finished the game with 16.
Madisonville (1-7) is now off until December 29 when the Maroons will take on McCreary County in the East Jessamine Holiday Basketball Tournament.
