Christian County travelled to Murray, KY to face off with Calloway County looking for their second in a row. And that is exactly what they were able to get, as the Colonels were able to beat the Lakers 69-54 after a hard-fought game.

The game started out very back and forth, but saw Christian County taking a 16-12 lead going into a timeout with just under two minutes left to play in the first quarter. There were a couple more scores both ways, including a layup from Calloway in the final moments, but the Colonels still came away with a 19-14 lead.

A big part of the scoring in the first for Christian County was Jay Henderson, who was able to hit a couple of three-pointers and score eight points in the quarter.

To start the second, Calloway was able to claw back from the hole they were in to tie the game at 21 points apiece with five left to play. Then the Lakers were able to make a few three-pointers and go up 27-23.

But after that, Rahsean Stevenson was able to absolutely take over the game and score 12 straight for the Colonels, giving them a 35-31 lead. And while the Lakers were able to a few more points, Christian County still held their leda at 36-34 at the halftime break.

Both teams got off to a slow start in the third quarter, and Christian County’s first points came two minutes in from a layup by Franklin Pollard. The game was tied at 41 points halfway through the quarter, but that is when Tom Johnson was able to make a big three, and James Farley was able to throw down a poster dunk to give the Colonels some fire.

This fire led them to outscore the Lakers by eight in the quarter and take a 53-43 lead into the fourth quarter.

The final period got started off with double technicals, which seems to light a fire under both teams. Calloway was able to immediately drain a three following the break in the action, but the Colonels came back with a vengeance.

Henderson finished a tough and-one, and Farley got out on a fast break and threw down another slam to go up 63-46 with just about four minutes left to play. But after that, it was all she wrote, and the Colonels were able to come out on top 69-54.

This was the eighth time and final time that the Christian County Colonels would be playing Calloway, and they ended the all-time series having never lost a game to the Lakers.

The leading scorer in the game for County was Stevenson with 23, as he was able together his way in the paint all night. Henderson and Farley made big plays all night for the Colonels, and they scored 14 and 11, respectively.

Christian County will be looking to keep their win streak alive in their next game on Tuesday, December 23, against Mount Vernon. The game will also be played at Calloway County as part of their Hardwood Classic, and will tip off at 3:30 p.m.
