Todd County Central went into their game against Fayette Academy having at the Chopped Lawn Care Holiday Classic having just lost their last game. They did exactly what they set out to do on Monday when they bounced back with a close 74-72 win.
Fayette got off to the hottest start imaginable with a 29-point quarter, where they were able to make a total of six threes. Todd’s Connor Holder was able to make a few threes of his own and lead the Rebels to 18 points in the quarter, but it was not enough to compete with the hot start from Fayette.
But then Todd County were the ones with the impressive quarter in the second, scoring 22 points and cutting the lead to just five. A big reason for their big quarter was the nine points from John Ross Cardwell in the period.
They were then able to follow it up with a 20-point performance in the third quarter, which gave them a two point lead going into the fourth.
The two teams then scored the same amount of points in the fourth quarter, which meant that it was the Rebels coming out on top in a close 74-72 game. Jayden Glass was able to score just under half of Todd’s points in the quarter with six.
The leading scorer in the game for the Rebels was Cardwell with 24, while Holder and Glass had 18 and 16, respectively.
The team’s next game will be on Tuesday, December 23, against the Glasgow Scotties. The game will also be played at South Warren as part of the Chopped Lawn Care Holiday Classic, and is scheduled to tip off at 11:30 a.m.
