The Christian County Lady Colonels lost their first game at the First Bank Holiday Bash hosted by South Warren to Central Hardin. They played Daviess County in their second game, but were unable to bounce back, losing this time 63-41.
They started out down just three points after the first quarter of play. Genesis McGee was able to put in a pair of threes, while Anaysia Bagwell and Carlie Hobson were also able to get on the board. But it was the second quarter that got the team into trouble.
McGee scored the team’s only field goal in the quarter, and Carliah Hobson was able to make a free throw, but those were the only points the Lady Colonels scored in the second period. This led them to be down 31-15 going into the halftime break.
They were able to come back in the third and score 11 behind five from Carlie Hobson, but they had already dug themselves a hole, and it was one they were never able to escape.
The Lady Colonels had their best quarter of the game in the fourth, scoring 15 points. But it was too little too late, and the Lady Panthers were able to close it out and get the win 63-41.
McGee led Christian County in scoring with 13, and she did so with three made shots from beyond the arc. Dayja George scored nine, while Bagwell and Carie Hobson each contributed eight points of their own.
This is the fifth time in a row that Daviess County has gotten the best of Christian County, as the last win the Lady Colonels were able to get in the all-time series was back in February of 2020. They will be looking for revenge the next time they face off with the Lady Panthers.
But for now, the Lady Colonels will be focused on getting a win at the First Bank Holiday Bash in their next one against Barren County on Sunday. The game will once again be played at South Warren, and will tip off at 5:30 p.m.
