
Hopkins County Central moved into the semifinals of the Lady of the South Invitational on Sunday with a 60-40 win over Pleasant High School from Ohio.
The Lady Storm will play Bishop Brossart Monday night at 6:30. Brossart took down Pulaski County 59-52 earlier in the day.
Hopkins Central (7-4) shot 50% from the field – making half its shots in both halves. Six of their 25 field goals were from behind the arc, which helped overcome a 4-of-15 day at the charity stripe.
Calajia Mason was the lone Hopkins Central player to score in double figures with 17 points. She also added six rebounds and six steals.
The Lady Storm scored 30 points off 11 Pleasant turnovers and held a 30-16 scoring advantage in the paint.
Braylee Marsh scored four points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds for Hopkins Central, and Tyah White and Sa’Nya Carney each scored eight points.
The Lady Storm led 19-10 after one quarter and 33-19 at halftime before pushing their lead to 25 points early in the fourth quarter.
The Spartans (4-4) hail from Marion, Ohio, and were led by Mary Aurigemma’s 12 points and 10 rebounds.
