After the Christian County Lady Colonels basketball team had a break for Christmas, they got right back to work on Saturday against Central Hardin at the First Bank Holiday Bash at South Warren. Unfortunately they were not able to start off the event right, losing in a close 62-52 game.
Four players were able to get on the board un the first quarter for the Lady Colonels, but it was not quite enough to take the lead against the Lady Bruins, as they took a 12-10 lead into the second.
Christian County was once again able to spread the ball around in the next period, but Central Hardin once again was able to outscore the Lady Colonels, this time by three points. This gave the Lady Bruins a slight 26-21 lead going into the halftime break.
Both offenses were able to come alive in the third quarter, as the Lady Colonels and the Lady Bruins were both able to score over 20 points in the period. Christian County was led by Anaysia Bagwell absolutely exploding in the quarter and scoring 14 points after scoring two and four in the first two quarters.
But the Lady Colonels’ offense slowed down to a halt, scoring nine points in the fourth quarter, and that eventually sealed their 62-52 defeat at the hands of the Lady Bruins.
That does not mean the team was without its bright spots, as Bagwell led the team 22 points on 4-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Carliah Hobson was also able to score double-digits with 10, and she did so with four rebounds as well.
The Lady Colonels’ next game will be on Sunday against Barren County. The game will once again be played at South Warren as part of the First Bank Holiday Bash, and is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
