The Christian County Lady Colonels will head into the 2026 portion of the schedule on a positive note. Anaysia Bagwell helped get the Lady Colonels off to a good start Monday morning as they closed out their appearance in the 2025 Firstbank Holiday Bash at South Warren by defeating the host Lady Spartans 52-42.
Bagwell scored 8 points in the opening quarter as Christian County ran out to an 18-6 lead. The Lady Colonel defense allowed the Lady Spartans just two Reagan Reynolds field goals and a pair of free throws in the first eight minutes.
South Warren turned the tables on the Lady Colonels in the second quarter and closed to within 26-21 at the half.
Coming out of the break, the teams played fairly even, with the Lady Colonels holding to a 37-31 lead going into the final quarter.
The Lady Colonels were then able to knock down their free throws in the fourth to hold on for the 10-point win. Christian County was 8 of 10 at the line in the final quarter with Bagwell going 5 of 6 to lead the way.
Bagwell finished the game with 20 points to top the Lady Colonels’ scoring column. Carliah Hobson added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Dayja George ended up with 7 points.
JaNya Anderson was the Lady Spartans’ leading scorer with 15 points. Mila Barber had 9 points.
Christian County (4-5) will be back on the court Tuesday, January 6, when the Lady Colonels host Webster County.
