Call it a strong defensive effort for the Hopkinsville Tigers. Hopkinsville held Cooper to just 11 field goals for the game as the Tigers took a 49-38 win Monday in the 5th place game of the 2025 Ashland Invitational Tournament.

Despite holding the Jaguars to just three field goals in the opening quarter, Hopkinsville trailed 11-9 at the end of the quarter. Collins going 4 of 4 at the line was the difference in the first eight minutes.

The Hopkinsville defense clamped down even tighter in the second quarter, giving the Jaguars just two Connor Graham field goals as the Tigers moved to the front at 23-15 at the half.

The Tigers came out of the half and got a big quarter from James Bradley Jr. as Hopkinsville extended the lead to 39-26.

Hopkinsville would then do enough at the free-throw line to hold off Cooper and take the 11-point win.

Jayon Bass, who made the All-Tournament team, led the Hopkinsville Tigers with 17 points and 9 rebounds. James Bradley Jr. also hit double digits with 11 points and added 9 rebounds. Layton Giltner finished with 6 points.

Hopkinsville (7-6) gets back to action Saturday evening at home when the Tigers host Kenwood.
