Now that was what you call a strong finish. Led by a big fourth quarter from Calajia Mason and Bri Dulin, the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm broke open a tie game at the beginning of the final quarter and rolled to a 55-39 win over Green County Tuesday in the 3rd place game of the Lady Invitational of The South at Allen County-Scottsville.
It was Mason’s hot start that helped the Lady Storm get out to a 14-10 lead after the opening quarter. The Lady Dragons turned the tables in the second quarter, outscoring Hopkins County Central 14-10 to even things up at 24-24 at the half.
The teams were still tied at 35-35 at the end of the third quarter. That was when the Lady Storm lowered the boom. so to say.
Hopkins Central gave up only two field goals and did not send the Lady Dragons to the line over the final 8 minutes as they pulled away to the 16-point win with their biggest offensive quarter of the game
Calajia Mason ended up with 22 points to lead the Lady Storm. Addie Menser connected on three 3-pointers on her way to 11 points. Bri Dulin continued her run of solid play, scoring 9 points, seven of them coming when the game was decided in the final quarter.
