Eighth grader Ethan Klidzejs was named Most Outstanding Wrestler to highlight a strong day for the Caldwell County wrestling team at the Tates Creek Invitational in Lexington on Saturday.

Klidzejs rolled through four matches while claiming the individual championship at 106 pounds. Klidzejs won all four matches by pin — two in the first period and two in the second period.

That helped the Tigers placed fifth out of 18 schools in the team standings.

But Klidzejs wasn’t Caldwell’s only champion.

Sophomore Jonathan Cocchi claimed the title at 157 pounds, going 3-0 on the day.

Dawson Harris was runner-up at 215. He won his first two matches before being pinned in the championship.

Trey Herron recorded a third-place showing at 113., going 3-1 on the day.

Justin Klidzejs was third at 138. He went 4-1 with four pins, with his only loss coming in the semifinals.

Braydon Springfield finished fourth at 285. After losing his first match, Springfield won three times in the consolation bracket before being pinned in the third-place match.

Three other Tigers wnt 2-2 on the day but failed to place — Haoyang Wu at 126, Bradley Asher at 165 and Jonas Martin at 190.

Caldwell totaled 146.5 points to place fifth.

Corbin won the event with 231 points, followed by Nelson County (192.5), McCreary Central (180) and Whitley County (150).

Next up for Caldwell wrestlers is dual action at Rossview High School in Clarksville on Tuesday.

The next tournament is next Saturday when the Tigers travel to Hendersonville, Tennessee, for the 2026 Commando Crush.
