One of the “glue” players on Kentucky volleyball’s Final Four team was junior defensive specialist Molly Berezowitz. She was not one of the team’s statistical leaders but she solidified the defense with her digs during her rotations and also was one of UK’s best and most consistent servers.

She transferred from Marquette to Kentucky where her sister Maddie was part of UK’s 2020 national championship team.

“There was never a day that went by in Maddie’s career that she wasn’t all about Kentucky. Never been a day since Molly has been here that she hasn’t been all about Kentucky,” Kentucky coach Craig Skinner said. “The family is as excited for the people around them as they are themselves. The determination that family has and Molly has, in particular, to improve and be better and to do whatever she can to win is off the charts.”

Associate coach Kyle Luongo also joined the UK program this season and he quickly learned how important Berezowitz’s role was on the team.

“She cares deeply for this program and her teammates. When we would circle up after practice, it was very common to hear people shout out ‘Molly Berezowitz’ for not necessarily her performance or her play, but just what she brings to the team,” the associate coach said. “I think that’s just a really cool thing. She brings a lot of leadership and enthusiasm for what we’re doing and what we get to do.

“What’s cool is it translated into an incredible role for her where she got to go in and play defense, serve and make an impact of extending rallies and being part of that floor defense that wasn’t the core identity of Kentucky volleyball before, She had a big part of that being something that was really good for us and became part of who we are.”
