The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons were able to get their second win of the season in their last game against the Western Hills Wolverines. But, they were unable to start a win streak, as they lost 79-54 to Bullitt East in the New Years Classic at Grayson County.
The Maroons got off to a very slow start in the first quarter, scoring just eight points in the first eight minutes of the game. But the second quarter saw them bounce back a bit.
They scored 19 points in the next period, led by 10 from Lake Sumner. Myles Adler, Jeremiah Lewis, and Gavin Oldham were also able to make three-pointers of their own before the halftime break.
Madisonville-North Hopkins picked up right where they started in the second quarter after the half, scoring 15 in the third. Lewis was able to score four, while Sumner, Orion Underwood, and Deacon Dever hit shots from beyond the arc.
But they slowed down just a bit in the third quarter with 12, and this led to their eventual 79-54 loss at the hands of the Chargers at the New Years Classic.
The Maroons will be looking to bounce back in their next game against the Grayson County Cougars on Tuesday, January 6. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School.
