Trigg County Finishes Third at Richey Rumble

Trigg County took third place in the team competition.

Trigg County came in third place at the Richey Rumble hosted by Caldwell County on Saturday.

Trigg County had four wrestlers finish in the top three, with Sophie Parrish winning the 107-pound title. The sophomore improved to 15-1 with a pair of wins.

Avagayle Lingenfelter finished in second place in the 235-pound class as she upped her season record to 14-2.

MaKenna Hendricks took second place in the 185-pound class and upped her season mark to 15-2. She lost to West Creek’s Irelynn Laurin in the championship match. Laurin is Tennessee’s defending state champion in the 185-pound class and has a two-year record of 63-7.

Teresa Helm hit the mat for the first time this season after recovering from a shoulder injury and took third place in the 100-pound class. She lost to the defending region champion, Madison Leonard of Central Hardin, in the semifinals but bounced back to win her next two matches. All three of her Saturday wins were by a pin.

Alani Mayes took fourth place in the 145-pound class with a 2-2 afternoon. Her season record stands at 15-8.

Skyler Novosselov came in fifth place in the 165-pound class. She defeated Hopkinsville’s Shamya Quarles by pin in a 29-second match in her finale.

Areonna Quarles came in fifth place in the 235-pound class as she defeated Union County’s Kenli Lamb in a first-round pin.

Loralai Stephens came in sixth place in the 138-pound class, as did Bryonah Mayes at 185. Mayes was injured in her final match and was unable to complete it.

Hallie Ray Cannon won a match in the 132-pound class.

Trigg totaled 118 points to finish behind tournament champion Henderson County (146.5) and second-place West Creek of Clarksville (144.5).
