Monday’s game at Wildcat Gym may have seemed like another road game in a strange venue for Trigg County, but the Wildcats settled into their updated digs and ran past Fulton City 84-43.
The game was the team’s first in Wildcat Gym in 10 months, as the renovation project ran about a month behind schedule. Trigg played one home game in its middle school gym and 11 others away from Trigg County while the work was being completed.
Trigg missed eight of its first 14 shots but shot 54% over the final three quarters to pull away from the Bulldogs to pick up its third win of the season.
Senior Carter Shepherd continued to provide a spark off the Trigg County bench, scoring eight straight points to begin the second quarter and break a 15-15 tie.

Trigg County took a 34-20 lead into the locker room at halftime and extended it further as Landon Swann, who was scoreless in the first half, scored 13 points in the third quarter and finished with 21 points for the game.
Davaree Gude added 20 points and handed out eight assists as the Wildcats tallied 17 helpers on 34 field goals. Shepherd finished with 14 points in 16 minutes.
Trigg County finished the game shooting 51% from the field and scored 29 points off 23 Fulton City turnovers. Conversely, Trigg County turned the ball over a season-low 7 times, which led to them scoring 1.27 points per possession.
Jamarion Jackson paced three Bulldogs in double figures with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Trigg County (3-10) prepares for three straight district games, starting with a road trip to Crittenden County on Tuesday.
The Wildcats will play only half of their remaining 16 regular-season games at home, with the eight games at Wildcat Gym, the fewest in a season since the facility was built in 1962.
