After getting the early lead, the Hopkins County Central Storm had to use a 4th quarter rally to snag their 8th win of the season Friday night. Sophomore Devante Jagoe had a huge night as the Storm came from behind to take a 77-75 road win at Paducah Tilghman.
This started off like the Storm would not need any kind of comeback. Jagoe scored 12 points in the opening quarter as Hopkins Central got out to a 22-13 lead over the Blue Tornado.
Tilghman came right back in the second quarter as Semaj Mosby scored 13 points and helped get the Blue Tornado back to within 35-34 at the half.
The Blue Tornado carried the offensive momentum over into the third quarter. Paducah Tilghman hung 25 points on the board and moved to a 59-55 lead. The Blue Tornado was able to get to the front despite an 8-point quarter from Devante Jagoe and a couple of big threes from Blaze Sumner.
Despite some free throw struggles over the final 8 minutes, the Storm was able to make a move to get back to the lead with some strong efforts from Jagoe, Samari Pettus, and Channing Stone. That would be the difference as the Storm rallied to take the 2-point win in an exciting finish.
Devante Jagoe led the Storm with a big 29-point night. Channing Stone finished the game with 14 points. Samari Pettus contributed 12 points and Davonyae Butcher also reached double figures with 11.
Tilghman’s top scorer for the game was Semaj Mosby with 15 points. Aiden Forthman, Jemarion Purdiman, and Alijah Dabney all had 13 points each.
Hopkins County Central (8-4) goes on the road Monday to take on University Heights.
