The Dawson Springs Lady Panthers basketball team was able to get their second win of the season in their last game against Fort Knox. Unfortunately, they were not able to get their second win in a row, and they lost to Highlands Latin 45-36 on Saturday.

The Lady Panthers started out the game on top, as they were up 8-6 after the first eight minutes of play. They were led by Ashtyn Swatzell and Emmalynn Colson, who were both able to hit a shot from beyond the arc.

Dawson once again scored eight points in the following quarter, but the Lady Highlanders’ offense woke up a bit and scored 17 in the second. Baylee Swatzell had five of Dawson’s eight points in the period, but that did not stop the team from going down 23-16 at the half.

Highlands Latin was able to stay hot and scored 16 points in the third quarter, but the Lady Panthers stayed consistent to a fault with eight once again. This led Dawson to go into the final quarter down 15 points.

Baylee Swatzell exploded with eight points in the fourth and helped the team score 11, bt it was not enough to erase the deficit, and they lost 45-36.

Baylee led the team in points with 14, the majority of which she scored in the fourth in an effort to bring the Lady Panthers back. Colson was also able to contribute six points of her own.

Dawson Springs will be looking to bounce right back in their next game against Community Christian on the road on Tuesday, January 13. That game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
