An offensive explosion in the second quarter for Ohio County turned out to be a bit too much for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons Tuesday night. The Eagles put 31 points on the board in the second and rolled to an 88-44 homecourt win.
The game was fairly close early on with Ohio County leading 16-10 after the first eight minutes. Then the roof caved in on the Maroons. Six different Eagles scored in the second quarter as Ohio County blew the lead out to 47-22 at the break.
The Eagles lit it up from deep in the second quarter, knocking down six 3-pointers.
The Maroons played almost even with the Eagles in the third quarter. Ohio County was able to inch the lead out to 66-38 by the end of the quarter.
Ohio County’s defense then closed out the game by allowing the Maroons just two made 3-pointers over the final eight minutes as the Eagles pulled away for the 44-point win.
Lake Sumner was the only Maroon to reach double figures with 11 points. Myles Adler added 9 points. Orion Underwood finished the night with 8 points.
Ohio County was led by Ryan Durham with 18 points. Manny Suarez and Tate Abney had 14 points each. Max Holsclaw had 12 points for the Eagles.
Madisonville-North Hopkins (2-14) gets back to action Thursday night at home against Evansville Bosse.
