Jordyn Hodge sank a 3-pointer ahead of the first quarter horn that sparked a 22-2 run that carried Crittenden County to a 59-30 district win over Trigg County on Tuesday at Rocket Arena.
While Trigg led briefly in the first quarter, Crittenden County led by four as the seconds wound down before Hodge buried the first of her four 3-pointers. The sophomore guard finished with a game-high 22 points.
In the end, stats don’t lie. Crittenden County outscored Trigg 30-1 in points off turnovers. The game’s final margin? 29 points.
While Trigg’s 21 turnovers were four fewer than its season average, they resulted in 17 more shots for the Lady Rockets.
Trigg County, which entered the game with a +9 rebound margin, was outworked on the glass 26-20 by the Lady Rockets. Crittenden also outscored Trigg in the paint 30-18.
Anna Boone joined Hodge in double figures with 17 points. The senior guard needs seven points to join Taylor Guess as the only Lady Rockets to score 2,000 points in a career.
Cali Jones scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Lady Wildcats, who also got eight points and five rebounds from Veyda Grinols.
Crittenden County has won 12 straight games against the Lady Wildcats and improved to 3-0 in the district. While Crittenden lost to Lyon County in the All A Classic region tournament, that game does not count in the district standings.
Trigg County looks to bounce back in district play Friday on the road at Lyon County.
