
Clarksville Northeast survived a frigid night at the free throw line in the second half to pick up a road win over the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons Wednesday night. The Lady Eagles took the lead in the second quarter and turned the Lady Falcons back over the rest of the game for a 35-31 win.
Both teams had troubles getting their offense going. Fort Campbell was able to do enough to take an 8-5 lead after the first eight minutes of the game. Kyndal Bradley knocked down two threes in the first quarter of play.
Carmen Abel had a big second quarter for Northeast as the Lady Eagles came back to take 15-12 lead at the half. Fort Campbell did not have a field goal in the quarter.
Coming out of the break, the Lady Falcons still had their troubles getting the ball to go in the basket. They made just two field goals in the third quarter but made 7 of 12 to stay in the game as the Lady Eagles nudged the lead out to 27-23 heading into the final quarter.
The Lady Falcons had chances to make a run at the Lady Eagles but went 1 of 6 at the line in the final quarter as Northeast held on for the win.
Speaking of free throws, Northeast was able to hold on for the win despite going just 3 of 12 at the free throw line in the second half.
A’mari Grimsley led Fort Campbell with 17 points. Kyndal Bradley added 9 points for the Lady Falcons.
Carmen Abel finished with 15 points to lead Northeast. Jaelyn Mumford added 9 points.
Fort Campbell (0-4) goes on the road to take on Heritage Christian Friday evening.
The win was the first of the season for Northeast (1-15).
