Fort Campbell and Heritage Christian Academy both went into their game against one another on Friday night on a losing streak. It was the Falcons who were able to snap theirs with a commanding 62-38 win on the road against the Warriors.

It was a fairly slow start to the game, as the score was just 5-3 halfway through with the Falcons having the lead. After HCA tied it up at five, Fort Campbell was able to go on a 8-0 run to take the lead and force a timeout.

That run lasted the rest of the quarter and extended all the way to 16-0 by the end, which caused the Falcons to go up 21-5 going into the second.

The run reached 18-0 in the second period before it was eventually stopped by a floater from HCA’s Cameron Oesch with just over two minutes elapsed. But Fort Campbell was able to force a bunch of turnovers and go on another run, this time 10-0.

This run was highlighted by a Tyreek Anthony poster dunk, and was eventually stopped by a three-pointer by Aaron Hensley. That three was then answered by the Falcons, and Anthony was able to end the half with a three that sent Fort Campbell into the locker room with a 39-10 lead.

It was fairly back and forth in the third quarter considering the large lead, with it being 47-20 halfway through the period.

The lead remained fairly consistent the rest of the game, and the Falcons were eventually able to close it out 62-38 after both team’s bench players came in.

Despite playing just two and a half quarters, Anthony led the team in scoring with 22 points, which puts him 10 away from 1000 in his high school career. The Falcons were able to move the ball around quite a bit, as 11 other players were able to get into the scoring column.

As for the Warriors, Hensley led the team with 10, and he did with a couple made shots from beyond the arc. Noah Arvin was also able to contribute eight of his own over the course of the game.

HCA had won the last seven matchups between the two teams, and the Falcons were able to snap that streak. The Warriors will be looking for revenge when they face off again with Fort Campbell later in the season.

But for now, the team will be focused on getting their second win of the season in their next game on Tuesday, January 20, against the Wildcats of Trigg County. Their game will begin at 6 p.m. at Heritage Christian Academy.

On the flip side, the Falcons will be looking to defend their home floor on Saturday, January 17 when they face off with Fort Knox. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Campbell High School.
