
Hopkinsville went into their game against Evansville Harrison on the road on Saturday having lost their last game. They had won their last five before that loss, but they were not able to get back on the right track, as they lost 77-65.
The Tigers’ Jayven Battle was able to get off to a good start in the first quarter with seven points, but the rest of the team was only able to score six combined. This led the team to be down 18-13 after the first eight minutes.
Battle and James Bradley Jr. both had six in the following period, but Evansville Harrison was able to extend their lead with a 20-point quarter. They were able to make eight shots from beyond the arc, and that led them to a 38-29 lead at the half.
The third quarter was the first and only quarter where the Tigers outscored Evansville Harrison, and they did so 22-16. The driving force was Battle with 10, as well as Jonovan Leavell with five.
The Tigers were down just three going into the fourth and final quarter, but Evansville Harrison was able to get to the free-throw line a lot in the period. This led them to a 23-point quarter, which helped them close out the game 77-65.
Battle led the Tigers in scoring with 23 points, and he did so with 13 in the first half. Leavell and Tashawn Quarles were also able to get into double-digits with 11 and 10, respectively.
Hopkinsville will be looking to get back on the right track in their next game against the Rebels of Todd County Central on Tuesday, January 20. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Todd County Central High School.
