
This week’s Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ for the week of January 12 is Hopkinsville High School’s Jonovan Leavell. Leavell was selected based on his efforts in last Thursday’s 8th District game between Hopkinsville and University Heights Academy.
Leavell lit up the scoreboard with a 31-point performance as the Tigers picked up a 72-67 win in an important district matchup.
He was on fire from behind the three-point line in the game, connecting on 7 of 9 shots from behind the arc. Overall, he was 11 of 18 from the field. Leavell also pulled down three rebounds.
Through the UHA game, Leavell is second on the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game and leads the team in made 3-pointers with 36.
The Jersey Mike’s ‘Player of the Game’ is selected each week from one of the five schools in Christian County (Christian County, Hopkinsville, University Heights, Heritage Christian, and Fort Campbell) based on their performance in a big game or event for their team that week.
