
Every time Hopkins County Central tried to make a run, Crittenden County buried a 3-pointer to hold the Lady Storm at bay.
Ten of the Lady Rockets’ 19 field goals in the contest were from behind the arc, as Crittenden captured a 63-53 decision Thursday night in Mortons Gap in a battle of 2nd Region contenders.
Hopkins Central (12-7) fell behind 23-13 after one quarter and saw Crittenden take a 31-24 lead to halftime.
The Lady Rockets (14-4) seemingly turned back every Lady Storm attempt at a rally with a key 3 to keep the momentum.
Hopkins Central’s best run came in the fourth quarter, with a 3-pointer by Tyah White had the Lady Storm as close as 51-45. Hopkins Central then got a look at another 3 on its next possession that could have cut the gap to three, but couldn’t convert.

Instead, Crittenden scored the next seven points to go up 58-45 with less than 2 minutes to go.
The Lady Rockets had four players score in double figures.
Elliot Evans knocked down five 3s and finished the night with 17 points. Anna Boone had 15. Andrea Federico had four 3-pointers and totaled 14 points. Jordyn Hodge added 11.
Calajia Mason led Hopkins Central with 16 points. Bri Dulin had 12 and White 11.
Crittenden was 15 of 19 at the free throw line while the Lady Storm was 6 for 11 at the stripe.

Hopkins Central heads to Caldwell County on Friday for a girls and boys 7th District doubleheader.
Crittenden’s girls are now scheduled to play again on Tuesday when they also travel to Caldwell County.
