Lady Lyons Drop Back-to-Back for First Time Since Last Season With Loss to Crittenden

The Lyon County Lady Lyons have had a great season so far at 17-4, and they had not lost back-to-back games since last season. But that all changed when the Crittenden County Lady Rockets came into Lyon’s house and got the 49-40 win to give the Lady Lyons their fifth loss of the season.

Crittenden made a pair of threes to get a 6-2 lead halfway through the quarter, but Trinity Taylor was able to score Lyon’s first six points and keep them in it. The Lady Rockets got another bucket, but Maddie Perry hit a three in the final minute of the period to make it 9-8.

The Lady Lyons kept the shooting going in the second right off the bat with a Lily Coffman three. Crittenden was able to answer back, and the two teams started trading threes. But Lyon was able to continue extending their lead, getting it all the way to nine with a Taylor three.

Their lead didn’t stay at that at the half, but the Lady Lyons still took a 27-22 lead into the locker room.

The Lady Rockets started the third quarter off hot and took the lead after a steal and score. Taylor made a floater and hit a deep three to get the lead back, but Crittenden responded back with an 8-0 run to end the quarter. This gave the, a 40-34 lead going into the final period.

Crittenden hit a three to make the lead nine points, but the Lady Lyons were able to get a bit back and go into a timeout with three minutes left down seven. Courtney Collins picked up a steal and took it all the way to cut the lead to five, but it was too little too late.

The Lady Rockets were able to make the necessary free throws, and they got the win 49-40 on the road.

This is now the fifth time in the last six meetings between the two teams that Crittenden has been able to get the win.

Taylor led the Lady Lyons in scoring with 22 points, and she did so with some impressive made shots from beyond the arc. The next leading scorer was Maddie Perry with seven, four of those coming in the fourth and final quarter.

Lyon will be looking to bounce back and snap their losing streak in their next game against the Lady Wildcats of Trigg County on Thursday, February 5. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Trigg County High School.
