Zach Moore (16) will be a part of William Bryan's coaching staff at Christian County High School this fall. Bryan and Moore went head-to-head on the pitch in their days at University Heights Academy and Hopkinsville.

The coaching staff for the first Christian County High School boys’ soccer team is taking shape and will have a Hopkinsville High flavor.

William Bryan was named the head coach of the program last year, with the team set to make its debut this fall when Christian County High and Hopkinsville High combine for the first time.

Former Hopkinsville players Ryan Roussel and Zach Moore have been named assistant coaches, and Brian Collins, who served as an assistant coach for Hoptown, will also join the staff.

Bryan, the all-time leading scorer at University Heights Academy, went head-to-head against Roussel and Moore on the field as part of the 8th District landscape in 2017-20.

Roussel was an All-Region and All-State player for Hopkinsville and was named to the 2019 All-State Tournament Team when the Tigers advanced to the state semifinals.

He played his college soccer at Centre and was an assistant coach at University Heights Academy last year.

Ryan Roussel (9) goes from playing against William Bryan (7) as cross-town rivals to being a part of his coaching staff this year at the new Christian County High School.

Moore and Roussel were teammates at Hopkinsville, where Moore also earned All-Region and All-State honors. He played his college soccer at Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro and was an assistant coach at Apollo last year.

Collins was a player for Hopkinsville in the mid-1990s and played college soccer at Lenoir-Rhyne University. He has been an assistant coach out of state for eight seasons and was Hopkinsville’s assistant coach for nine seasons.

Bryan and the coaches will host a parent meeting on Monday, February 2, at 5:30 p.m. in the Christian County High School Media Center, with all returning players in grades 7 through 11 and their parents invited to attend.
