
Madisonville-North Hopkins senior Addison Howard scored a pair of wins in her final region meet, helping the Lady Maroons to a sixth-place finish at the Region I Meet on Monday at Hopkinsville High School.
Howard won the 200-yard IM in 2:34.14, scoring a five-second win over second-place Lily Johnston of Christian County. She also won the 100-yard backstroke by over eight seconds with a time of 1:06.89.
Ellen Eveland finished second in the 200-yard freestyle, just getting edged at the finish by Murray’s Laurel Johnson by .27 seconds. Eveland’s time was 2:07.93. She also finished second to Johnson in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:00.83.
Both Howard and Eveland will swim in the KHSAA State First Round on Saturday at Bowling Green High School. Also advancing was the 200-yard medley relay team of Howard, Eveland, Ava Evans, and Iris Turley, who finished in fourth place in 2:20.80.
Ava Evans came in 12th place in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:45.89 and 15th place in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:59.78.
Iris Turley finished in 16th place in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:45.19 and 17th place in the 50-yard freestyle in 35.62 seconds.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team also came in fourth place in 2:05.
Madisonville-North Hopkins totaled 142 points to finish 61 points ahead of sixth-place McCracken County and 23 points behind fifth-place Fort Campbell.
