The Crittenden County Lady Rockets have completed a regular season sweep of Fifth District opposition following Tuesday’s 56-20 win at Trigg County.

The Lady Rockets will be the No. 1 seed in the district tournament that will be played on their home court later this month. Trigg County still has two district games left to determine its seeding.

The Lady Rockets dispensed with any early drama with a 13-0 run as part of a 20-4 first-quarter blitz, thanks to scoring 15 points off 13 first-quarter Lady Wildcat turnovers.

Crittenden County hit 12 of 22 shots in the first half as they upped its advantage to 32-7 by halftime.

Trigg County, playing its first game since January 22 due to the winter weather, looked out of sorts against Crittenden County’s pressure defense, which was effective in speeding up the Lady Wildcats in the half-court. The result was 21 turnovers and 13 missed shots in the first half.

Jordyn Hodge led the Lady Rockets with 13 points and had four of Crittenden County’s 17 steals. Elliot Evans added 11 points and four rebounds, and Anna Boone scored nine points and contributed six assists and five steals.

Trigg County got its scoring from three players. Veyda Grinols had 11 points and 14 rebounds, and A.J. Navarro added seven points and three steals.

For the game, Crittenden County shot 50% from the field and scored 35 points from 30 Trigg turnovers.

The Lady Wildcats will host Lyon County on Thursday and travel to Livingston Central on Monday to finalize the district’s tournament seeding.

Crittenden County has won five straight games and will host Christian County on Thursday.
