Durham’s 28 Leads Ohio County Past Hopkinsville

Ohio County took full advantage of timely free throw shooting Thursday night. The Eagles went 8 of 8 at the line in the final quarter as Ohio County picked up a 59-53 win over the Hopkinsville Tigers in a game that was back and forth all night in Tiger Gym.

Behind big starts from Emanuel Suarez and Ryan Durham, Ohio County took a 18-12 lead after the opening quarter.

Hopkinsville battled back in the second. Layton Giltner scored six points in the quarter as the Tigers came back to take a 29-28 lead into the half.

Ryan Durham heated up in the third quarter for the Eagles. He scored 9 points and Ohio County moved back to the lead at 42-41.

The Eagles then, using their free throw shooting to turn the Tigers back over the final eight minutes, held on to take the six point win, their second in a row and fifth in the last six games.

Ryan Durham finished the night with 28 points to lead the Eagles in scoring. The only other player in double figures for Ohio County was Tate Abney with 10.

James Bradley Jr. led Hopkinsville with 15 points. Jonovan Leavell had 12 and Layton Giltner finished with 10 points.

Hopkinsville falls to 14-11 with the loss, which was their second in a row. The Tigers are back on the court on Tuesday when they go on the road to take on Henderson County.
